Two schools in East Sussex have gone into special measures despite one being named among the most improved in the country.

Marshlands and White House primaries were labelled “inadequate” by recent inspections, even though Marshlands was given an improvement rating of 98 per cent by Ofsted in 2003.

Inspectors said both schools failed to meet standards in English, maths and science.
