Psychologists conducting a Government study into the effect of violent videos on young offenders deny they have discovered a definite link between the two.

Dr Kevin Browne, of the University of Birmingham, was asked to investigate whether violent offenders viewed scenes of aggression differently to non-offenders.

Provisional conclusions were reported this week indicating that watching videos would incite violent people to commit more frequent acts of violence.

Dr Browne, however, said that there was no evidence to support this hypothesis. His findings will be given to the Home Office in October.
