Degree fears

In response to “Give us the foundations of power too” (TES Cymru, June 29), I live in Wales and am presently studying a foundation degree in early years with the Open University. But now I am confused.

Are my studies and money wasted if foundation degrees (level 5) are not recognised within Wales? Being a work-based course, will the Assembly recognise that there are some OU early years foundation degree students already in Wales?

If not, then I can’t recognise Wales as a “learning country”.

* Fforwm replies: “The Further Education and Training Bill extends the privilege of awarding foundation degrees to FE colleges (in England). fforwm wants Wales to be treated equally. Your foundation degree is recognised and you are quite safe.”
