Demoralised by news of awards

I was appalled to read your headline introducing the latest government gimmick, achievement awards: “Reward for schools doing the job properly”.

What on earth is that saying to schools not selected for this award?

My school certainly meets the criteria yet did not receive recognition. Our test results have increased dramatically every year and we have had our second outstanding inspectionreport. My school is not in a leafy suburb. We work tirelessly in overcrowded conditions with some challenging children in classes of up to 37.

Your headline was insulting and demoralising to my dedicated teachers. This award is divisive and unfair to our profession.
