Russell Crowe will be the face of Jack Aubrey, hero of the film Master and Commander. Based on the novels of Patrick O'Brian, it offers a series of naval adventures set in the Napoleonic Wars. A study guide suggests ways in which students can explore the differences between history and fiction, or investigate cinematic methods of linking character and motive to plot and action. There is also a wall chart that provides extra information. The study guide and poster are available from Film Education.
