Design - Leaflet needs a revamp

A competition that gives pupils an insight into how the design and print industries work has been launched by the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework partnership.

A competition that gives pupils an insight into how the design and print industries work has been launched by the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework partnership.

The organisation, which aims to help employers, learners and the general public to understand the full range of Scottish qualifications, is inviting teams of S3-6 pupils from all state and independent schools across Scotland to redesign and rework its existing "Achievement Counts" leaflet.

The winners will be involved at every stage as the new version is produced, with visits to the design agency and printers included as part of the first prize. It is expected that some 250,000 copies of the new version will be printed and distributed.

Julie Cavanagh, a manager with the SCQF Partnership, explained: "Our current leaflet is a bit too formal and business-like, so we're keen to update it and make it more appealing to young people.

"We think this project fits well with Curriculum for Excellence. We'd be delighted to receive entries from any school or department."

The deadline for entries is September 17. l For competition rules and further details see:
