An Internet Proficiency Scheme for key stage 2 pupils has been set up by the Department for Education and Skills (DfES). Managed by Becta, it provides a teaching pack to support an interactive website on Gridclub, the national web service for primary-age children. Children get certificates to show they’ve successfully completed the scheme, which includes advice on the use of chatrooms, email and messaging (hosted by Griff, pictured left). You can get a free copy of the pack by emailing internetprof@becta.org.uk and you can download the teaching materials (and a presentation with advice for governors and parents) at www.gridclub.comcybercafeteachers The children’s site is at: www.gridclub.comcybercafe Get more information on internet safety at: http:safety.ngfl.gov.uk
