DfES staff take more days off

Civil servants in the Department for Education and Skills take an average of nine days off sick a year, new government figures show.

In 2004, DfES officials were absent more than double the 3.8 days taken in the Department of Health. In the same year teachers only took an average of 5.3 days off sick.
