Blue, Oily Cart’s new show for young people with complex disabilities, is touring the UK from late May to October. Filled with sights, sounds and smells conjured up by the word “blue”, it includes an element aimed at those with autistic spectrum disorders.

School groups from London or the surrounding area are welcome at the new Unicorn Theatre for children in Tooley Street, London SE1, for three weeks from June 26.

The residency offers the opportunity for families of learning disabled young people to experience performances together. Bookings should be made through Oily Cart.

The company, founded in 1981, creates multi-sensory, highly interactive productions for the very young and for young people with complex disabilities. Performances mix acrobats, automata, actors and aromatherapy.

Recently, the company has focused on work with young people with profound and multiple learning disabilities.

UK venues range from Lyric Hammersmith and Clwyd Theatr Cymru, to nurseries and Sure Starts. Multi-media action packs are sent in advance to allow families, teachers and carers to prepare for the visit and do follow-up work.
