Our old friend Michael Fallon has popped up again, this time fighting for selection in the safe Conservative seat of Sevenoaks, Kent.

The former education minister, who lost his Darlington seat at the last election, is up against stiff opposition in the shape of Alan Clark, one time Defence minister, diarist, maverick laird of Saltwood Castle and professional toff.
