* I was intrigued to read that Steve Munby, director of education for Knowsley, had spent a day at one of his own primary schools (“Director who went back to chalkface”, TES, May 25).
Round here a day at school starts about 8.30am, not halfway through lunch time (Mr Munby spent an afternoon at the school.) If he was exhausted after two hours at the “chakface”, let him spare a thought for the rest of us. Perhaps Mr Munby should do a term’s supply in a secondary school.
I suggest from September to Christmas, when wet breaktimes, freezing classrooms and staff absences would give him the “taste” he needs.
