Disarming the solvent gun

About six young people die every month as a result of sniffing glue. A Loaded Gun is a 12-minute video that uncompromisingly reveals the potential dangers of solvent abuse. We hear from parents, school-friends and toxicologists, and we see tragic newspaper headlines and a very real recent gravestone. An accompanying guide for teachers at key stages 3 and 4 provides sensible ideas and resources for PHSE lessons. These include thinking about the nature of “acceptable” dangers, as well as facts to persuade pupils that their minds and bodies are worth preserving. A Loaded Gun is being distributed free to secondary schools from Re-Solv, 30a High Street, Stone ST15 8AW. Further copies cost pound;20.
