Robert Davies reveals the good, the bad, and the potential of resources packs

GCSE Business Studies PowerPoint Resources Packs

Easily Interactive

www.easilyinteractive.com

Seven topic packs priced from pound;50 to pound;110, quote The TES to get the special offer price for the set (pound;495, usually pound;545, total when sold separately pound;615) until September 30

This series of packs deliver what they promise: GCSE business studies specifications for all examination boards are comprehensively covered through PowerPoint presentations and interactive worksheets and games. The astounding amount and range of excellent content will free up a lot of preparation time and promote active and interesting teaching and learning.

Although clear throughout, some content is a little highbrow and may not cater so well for lower ability pupils, but there is an option for teachers to edit the material. The interactive activities allow for all learning styles, but the series would benefit from more interactive material for topic areas that are harder to make interesting, such as accounting and finance.

Production and marketing are amply covered, but other areas where a teacher may need more inspiration are less so.

Files are organised logically, but there is no easy or self-explanatory way to navigate between topics: it relies on teachers having the ability and time to work it out. This is partly addressed in the overview, although this feels added-on and disjointed.

Overall, this is an attractive product, but at pound;495 (until September 30) an investment in the full set would need careful thought
