For schools like Denbigh High in Luton, doing their best to balance the interests of all their students over dress rules, there is a ready answer.

All outer clothing worn to fulfil religious demands should conform to fabric designs defined in school rules. Schools could encourage students to participate in the extension of existing uniform designs to these other garments, so that the results were collaborative and inclusive.
