Dog tales come to life

Pupils at Whitehawk Primary School in Brighton have met the canine star of their reading books. Trish Adams, a teacher with the city’s language and literacy support service, has been helping children learn to read using stories that she and her colleagues have written about Tom, her dog. “Tom made a school visit so the children would realise he is a real dog and to make the stories more meaningful to keep them interested and enthusiastic about learning,” said Ms Adams.
