Dolls valuable in early-years work

The article about the picketing by the Parent Truth Campaign at a recent training day in Glasgow on the use of Persona Dolls (TES, June 4) was saved from a misrepresentation of reality by the comments of early-years professionals.

Training courses for practitioners have been immensely popular and have provided them with a means to enable young children to develop empathy with those who are different from themselves.

The tenor of the article and its accompanying cartoon belittle this important work towards helping all children to feel included in early-years settings, whatever their backgrounds.
