Buried amid the usual notices of lectures on subjects such as “School improvement for the next decade”, this week’s Institute of Education newsletter announced an intriguing seminar by Cambridge philosophy professor Simon Blackburn on Wednesday evening entitled, simply, “Lust”.

The professor - author of a book on the subject and broadly pro-shagging - will be exploring everything from St Augustine’s teachings to sex education in modern schools. But, he assures us, that there will be “no Bill Clinton-style revelations and definitely no practical demonstrations. I’m far too old for that!”
