MARALYN Adey, the mother of a teenager with Down’s Syndrome, is claiming clinical negligence by Leeds doctors and health managers in a case
that could have far-reaching implications for children with
the condition. She told the High Court that her son Kristian had been denie a heart operation as a baby because of his limited life
expectancy.
He is now 15 but suffers from shortage of breath, needs oxygen at home and often has to use a wheelchair. The authority denies negligence and discrimination against Down’s Syndrome
children.
