Ellen Baxter, who worked at Brixham Community College in Torbay, Devon, was this week struck off the teaching register after England’s General Teaching Council said she had put pupils at risk. Last year, Paul Hanson, an art teacher, blamed his drug addiction on the stress of teaching a new syllabus. He too was struck off. The Teacher Support Network said stress was causing mental illness in 20,000 teachers.
