One in 10 children in Scotland has experimented with illegal drugs before the age of 12, according to a report by Glasgow University.

Of those, 79 per cent had taken cannabis, 27 per cent magic mushrooms, 15 per centLSD, 10 per cent ecstasy and 6 per cent had tried heroin. The survey, funded by the Scottish Office, took in 1,000 children, and deliberately ignored Glasgow and Edinburgh, which have high rates of drug abuse.
