TB: two letters spelling a deadly disease that will kill two million people worldwide this year. In the 1980s, experts predicted the total eradication of tuberculosis in the developed world by 2000. They were wrong. One London borough has a higher rate of the disease than India. Ben Walsh, in the lesson notes to this week’s Inside Story, says it challenges “the oft-held notion that history is a continual story of progress and achievement.
