Pay attention! Poor listening skills can lead to problems in all areas of learning. Sue Palmer shares sound advice with her top 10 tips to help your pupils learn to listen (page 20). ‘Sink or swim’ for most of us is just a figure of speech, but it was literally the fate of 150 hapless passengers on the Medusa who were left to battle the elements for 13 days when the frigate ran aground. It’s a grim story, dramatically portrayed by the artist Gericault (page 10). I don’t suppose that anyone has ever literally drowned in debt, but there’s certainly much to learn from the ‘buy now, pay later’ culture (page 12).
