‘Careless talk costs lives’ would be an apt cautionary maxim for translators. These faceless people play a powerful role on the world stage - and in times of war their blunders have had devastating consequences (page 12). First World War artist Paul Nash painted a desolate landscape of blasted trees and churned up mud. ‘We are Making a New World’, his nightmare vision, is a timely resource for history and literature students (page 10). Once upon a time, the men and women of the world were so wicked that God decided to destroy all life and start again. Tell your pupils the story of Noah’s Ark (page 19).
