Eight colleges shared Pounds 200,000 as joint winners of the BT Further Education Awards set up last year to promote new teaching methods using information technology.

The competition attracted 112 colleges, and the winning projects ranged from programmes to support the learning of IT skills and the creation of electronic links with the wider community to new flexible learning schemes to support disadvantaged unemployed people. The winners were Bilston, Bromley, City College Norwich, Glasgow College of Building and Printing, Lancaster and Morecambe, Oxford, Reading and South East Derbyshire.
