The eighth Summer Reading Challenge run by public libraries to keep children reading during the school holidays will be called The Reading Mission this year, linked to the Stormbreaker film of Anthony Horowitz’s first Alex Rider book. The four to 11-year-olds who take part will be given invisible-ink pens and encouraged to visit a top secret area of the Stormbreaker website: as top secret as possible with an expected 600,000 “reading agents” taking part. The scheme’s own website, www.readingmission.org.uk, will be live in June.
