Emails used to sell drugs

Emails offering drugs such as Viagra have been sent to pupil accounts at many of the 2,600 schools who use the London Grid for Learning.

Managers of a new filter system set up to block "spam" sent to the grid found 75 per cent of the emails were unsolicited. Of these as many as 50 per cent were selling drug products such as Viagra and Valium and 20 per cent were pornographic. Neil Hammerton, managing director of Email Systems, said that the growth in drug offers was extremely concerning.
