Lecturers condemned the 157 Group of large successful colleges for supporting the privatisation of further education.
Members of the University and College Union accused the group, which represents more than 20 colleges, of trying to create “dark, satanic, low-rent, pared-down, vocational qualification mills”.
“If the 157 Group is successful, I think this means Armageddon for us all,”
said David Armstrong from Barnet College, the motion’s proposer.
