* England’s three exam boards are still taking too long to re-mark papers and process schools’ appeals against their students’ grades, a report revealed this week.
The QCA’s annual report on the re-marking and appeals process revealed that the boards failed to hit a string of time-limited targets.
The number of GCSE exams given a higher grade following re-marks surged by more than a third last year, 7,604 to 10,208. This represents an increase from 0.1 to 0.2 per cent of the number of exams.
