Writing worthy of Wordsworth
Teaching creative writing can be challenging - it’s hard to encourage imagination while applying correct punctuation and grammar. David Howarth shares a handy guide to help bring pupils’ stories to life.
What is it?
A PowerPoint presentation full of tips and tricks to inspire creative ideas. Each slide explains a literary technique, with examples, then asks pupils to create their own. It covers similes, metaphors, triples, onomatopoeia and punctuation.
Why is it useful?
Pupils work through each technique step-by-step, giving them the confidence to write lengthier pieces. It is useful for introducing creative techniques or to jog pupils’ thought processes if they get writer’s block.
