While working as an independent speech and language therapist at two London schools, Priya Desai noticed one glaring omission.
“There were no fun story books available that spoke about specific school skills such as spelling, handwriting or maths,” she said.
So she has written two books to help four to nine-year-olds improve their spelling and handwriting.
Benjamin Writer-Messy is about a boy who has awful handwriting, while Jake Monkey-Tail tells the tale of a monkey who cannot spell.
The books are beautifully illustrated and cleverly crafted to intrigue and entertain young readers while encouraging their literacy efforts. See www.priyadesai.co.ukWhat else?ResourcesTry Alice K’s Pied Piper PowerPoint resource on TES as a stimulus for a narrative account or comprehension
