“ET, please phone Earth” and “The physics of Formula 1 cars” are public lectures to be held at the Institute of Physics Annual Congress, March 24-27, at Leeds University. They will be given by Heather Couper, science broadcaster and author, and Brian O’Rourke, chief engineer (composite structures), Williams Grand Prix Engineering Ltd. There will also be 12 conferences on such topics as stress and vibration analysis; medical physics; education; history of physics; and atomic, molecular, optical and environmental physics.
