Global Learner By Lat Blaylock Christian Aid pound;19.95 Resource file. www.christian-aid.org.uk

This collection of materials from Christian Aid, designed to promote ethical thinking about global issues, provides fresh and stimulating interactive teaching strategies and classroom activities. Though primarily aimed at those teaching vocational A-levels in leisure and tourism, business, and health and social care it also offers unhackneyed resource material for geography GCSE and A-level classes.

There are games, simulations, and moral dilemmas, which vividly bring to life ThirdMajority World situations and case-studies of tourism issues in Palestine and Israel, and the Solomon Islands, the Traidcraft organisation, the HIVAids epidemic in Africa and health issues in India and Bangladesh.

There is also a good directory of organisations and e-mail addresses, but even so, the ring-bound file of 101 pages seems somewhat overpriced at twenty pence a page.

Rex Walford is a Fellow of Wolfson College, Cambridge and the author of Geography in British Schools, 1850-2000 (Woburn Press)
