WORK experience is going Europe-wide. The European Union has commissioned the Careers Research and Advisory Centre to create a framework to encourage young people to develop employability skills through part-time, paid and voluntary work experience.

Fourteen organisations from seven countries - the UK, Germany, Spain, Finland, Romania, Belgium and Greece - will work with CRAC, which is collaborating with the Institute of Leadership and Management, the National Council for Work Experience, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Royal Mail and Cambridge Professional Development.

The initiative builds on CRAC’s pioneering InsightPlus programme, which was piloted in 11 British universities last year and is expanding to 18 this year. InsightPlus is also venturing into schools, with CRAC winning a contract from the Kent and Medway Learning and Skills Council to run the programme with sixth-formers in the area.
