Senior pupils at Kingussie High have won a European business competition after beating off a challenge from six other nations at the final in Ravenna, Italy.

Isla McBean, Jane Hay and Stephen Arrowsmith devised a company called Scotrex to offer all-inclusive lesiure breaks to the Badenoch and Strathspey area, featuring outdoor and environmental activities. They took part in a joint venture with a school from Dubrovnik in Croatia and met their partners in Italy.

This is the second time in two years a team from Highland has won since Golspie High won in Denmark in 1994.

Tricia Shorthouse, marketing officer in Highland and national co-ordinator of the competition, said: “The team gave a very professional presentation to a large audience from seven nations. They recognise the importance of good marketing.”
