UNTIL JANUARY 22 SIR MICHAEL TIPPETTREMEMBERED Bath Spa University College (Newton Park campus) is commemorating the great British composer’s life with concerts on January 13 and 20 (7.30pm start) and with a photographic exhibition, “A man of our time” (open Wednesdays to Fridays, 12.30-5pm; 10 pm on concert nights). UNTIL MAY 19 OOH, WHAT A CARRY ON Forty years of great British comedy from the Carry On team is celebrated at the Museum of the Moving Image, South Bank, London SE1. Also at MOMI (until January 31) is a free foyer display featuring montages produced by schoolchildren, based on an exhibition of Lewis Carroll photographs at the National Portrait Gallery. JANUARY 20 25TH ANNIVERSARY CONCERT Former pupils and staff are invited to a concert at the National School, Hucknall, Nottingham, 7pm, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its move to the Annesley Road site. There will be music performances and poetry readings by past and present pupils and staff, and proceeds will go towards new computer and sequencer equipment for the music department. FEBRUARY 15-22 NILE BIKE RIDE Mencap is inviting people of all ages and levels of fitness to saddle up for this eight-day, 500km bicycle ride from Luxor to Aswan and back. A pound;250 registration fee is payable plus a minimum sponsorship target. Flights, food, accommodation and bikes are free. Funds raised will go towards Mencap’s work supporting people with learning disabilities, their families and carers. Details: 0645 777779.
