Social trends of the past 120 years from Toulouse-Lautrec to Saatchi amp; Saatchi are captured in this display at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London SW7, culled from its collection of more than 10,000 originals. Divided into three sections - Pleasure and Leisure; Protest and Propaganda; and Commerce and Communication - it includes works by Jules Cheret (the “founding father” of the poster), Jean Cocteau, David Hockney, Roy Lichtenstein, Alphonse Mucha and Aubrey Beardsley. Related events include a free drop-in workshop, “Going graphic”, where visitors can take photos in the museum with a digital image camera and, using a computer, make their own poster. APRIL 5-SEPTEMBER 6 - 40 YEARS OF PADDINGTON
Michael Bond’s manuscript for the first Paddington novel, A Bear Called Paddington, and the original puppet used in the 70s animated television series are among exhibits at the London Toy and Model Museum, 2123 Craven Hill, London W2. Details: 0171 706 8000.
APRIL 9-AUGUST 31 - FERDINAND PORSCHE:DESIGN DYNASTY
Porsche may be best known for sports and racing cars but his contribution to vehicle design ranges from fire engines to amphibious cars and airship engines. This exhibition at the Design Museum, London SE1, includes his first car, the hub-driven electric Lohner-Porsche Chaise 1900, and rare prototypes, models and drawings of the world’s favourite car, the Volkswagen Beetle. APRIL 11-13 - A CELEBRATION OF EASTER: READINGS FROM THE KING JAMES VERSION

APRIL 15-17 - TEACHER FAMILIARISATION DAYS
Teachers plus a partner are invited to Chessington World of Adventures, Surrey, from 2pm to check out its new education facility, The Discovery Centre, and other new attractions. The education service will be outlined, which includes free lectures and presentations and workbooks on maths, science and topics such as movement and camouflage.
