As the Disability Discrimination Act comes into full effect, the resource pack Count Me In! will be very useful for teachers and youth workers. Developed and written by a group of young Red Cross volunteers, most of whom have disabilities themselves, it is a generous collection of games, activities and advice that will raise awareness and promote inclusion. There are enjoyable ice-breakers that anyone can play, such as Human Bingo or Picture Biographies, and more elaborate projects, such as guiding a blindfold friend around a “battlefield”. The emphasis throughout is on recognising and responding to the humanity in everyone. Count Me In! costs pound;9.50 (plus pp).
