EXAM candidates will be able to compile their own timetable for next year’s Standard grade, Higher and Certificate of Sixth Year Studies from a website. Thanks to the Internet they will be able to find out the days and times of their papers.

The Scottish Qualifications Authority believes that the facility will alert candidates in the rare event of their being timetabled for two exams at the same time. Alternative arrangements can then be made.

There were complaints before this year’s exams that some pupils had too little time between papers. The SQA said that with the imminence of Higher Still, the exams timetable was being compressed to allow for more teaching time but any resulting problems would be looked at.

The SQA timetable can be found at http:www.sqa.org.uktimetable.
