Face to face with the Vikings

When introducing the topic of invasions, such as the Vikings, I arranged for an older class to invade the classroom while my pupils were out of the room.

When the younger children returned there was a mixture of responses, including shock, fear and anger. They really got a sense of empathy with the villagers invaded by the Vikings and it was a great opportunity for discussion.

Some children just accepted the situation, others tried to do something about it. It was an unforgettable experience.
