“Stranger Danger” looks at the concept of strangers and stereotyping.
Select photos from newspapers or the internet showing a cross section of people. Ask pupils to make general assumptions about these people such as age, job and characteristics, then give them specific labels such as doctor, teacher or robber to be matched to each photo.
Choose the least likely in your opinion to be the robber and the doctor so that you can challenge stereotypes. Ask the pupils for feedback: were they surprised at the results? Then ask: “Who is the stranger?”
Explain how they are all strangers and this can lead on to tips for dealing with strangers.
The class can then create posters to be displayed around the school for all ages
