(Photograph) - Facing a four-day week: students at Beverley grammar school in the East Riding of Yorkshire, which is cancelling courses in engineering and further maths and will lose two full-time posts because of a pound;140,000 budget shortfall. This week Stephen Parnaby, East Riding Council leader, warned that his schools could lose up to 100 teachers because of a missing pound;4 million and that a number of them could be forced on to four-day weeks in September. He is seeking a meeting with the schools minister, David Miliband, to discuss the issue.
