Facts are only part of the story on the curriculum

Perhaps Helen Barnes (Letters, 26 April) shouldn't rest her case: doesn't "When was the Battle of Hastings?" help to explain "Why did the Battle of Hastings happen?" and, indeed, "Why did William conquer?"
