What a brilliant set of resources pages you created for Inter Faith Week (9 November). There were oodles of classroom discussion materials on temptation, the wearing of religious symbols, responses to the events of 11 September 2001, creationism and evolution. But so many of your correspondents mentioned pupil ignorance and prejudice when handling beliefs and values in the classroom. Wait a minute, I’ve had a brilliant idea. Let’s create an academic subject that covers all this, challenges preconceptions and encourages pupils to engage with the world of faith and belief. We could give it as much curriculum time and funding as history or geography. But what could we call it?
