POTENTIAL recruits to teaching are underestimating classroom starting salaries by 20 per cent, according to new research commissioned by the Department for Education and Employment and the Tacher Training Agency. The average estimate from the 277 students surveyed was pound;13,332 outside London and pound;15,305 in London, compared to the actual figures of pound;17,001 and pound;20,001.
