A teacher who falsely claimed his family had been killed in a car crash to get time off work has been suspended from teaching for 12 months.
Paul Moyse, who was a music teacher at Westfield school in Watford, was found guilty of unacceptable professional conduct by England’s General Teaching Council at a disciplinary hearing last week.
Mr Moyse told the school in January 2005 that his daughter and former wife had died in a road traffic accident in order to get compassionate leave and attend the funeral. After an investigation into the incident, Mr Moyse resigned in August 2005.
