Groups and students aged 15-18 are being offered the chance to gain an insight into the life, education and culture of Japan, China or the United States.

The “Encounter” programme set up by the Council on International Educational Exchange allows students to spend two to three weeks during the school holidays attending lessons on history and culture at a school in-country, and going on excursions. Language tuition is also included where appropriate. Students stay with local families. Prices start at Pounds 1,050 with the accompanying teacher travelling free.

Interested teachers should contact Sara Furley, CIEE, 52 Poland Street, London W1V 4JQ, tel: 0171 478 2016; e-mail: SFurleyciee.org.
