Games never end for the folk in purple

The Olympics and Paralympics have been such a success that they have forced even curmudgeons like FErret to spend weeks cheering and blubbing at the achievements of the world’s athletes. So it’s no surprise that many people don’t want them to ever end.

Perhaps that is why Kingston College has announced that it will continue to offer the customer service training programme used by the Games Maker volunteers.

The college notes that the WorldHost programme - previously used for the 2010 Vancouver Games and also by tourist attractions such as Chessington World of Adventures - has many possible applications where good frontline customer service is important.

But FErret prefers to imagine the college training an army of enthusiasts who will continue to helpfully direct tourists around the capital, like a more cheerful version of the Japanese soldiers lost in dense jungle who did not realise the Second World War had ended.
