A free online resource from HM Revenue amp; Customs is taking on the not inconsiderable challenge of making tax fun.

The Tax Matters website is aimed at secondary pupils in citizenship, business studies and personal and social education classes. It uses videos, quizzes and games, and is divided into three modules entitled Income Tax, National Insurance, and Tax and Society.

Although the site has been available for some time, it has recently been revamped to include:

- extra lesson plans;

- divisions of lesson plans into clear sections, allowing teachers to tailor them to their needs;

- downloadable videos and images;

- clearer signposting of materials to appropriate ages and stages.
