MINISTERS are to ask Coca-Cola, Nike and Sony Playstation to help persuade teenagers not to smoke.

The Government believes that the corporations, who have proved extremely successful in marketing their own products to teenagers, are well-plaed to get the no-smoking message across.

The move came as the European Parliament backed a bid to increase the the amount of space on cigarette packets given over to health warnings. They want it increased ten-fold to 40 per cent.
