The first 100 new teaching schools have been chosen by the Government. Heads of the 37 primaries, 56 secondaries and seven special schools from across the country will be told today they will hold the new status from September. They will be responsible for leading a group of schools, working with other partners including at least one university, to deliver high-quality support for teachers and leaders at all stages in their career. A second group of teaching schools will be designated in 2012.
